Firefighter Role
- To save life and preserve endangered life
- Protection of property from damage by fire and from firefighting measures
- To render humanitarian services
- To inform and educate your community to improve awareness of safety
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend emergency calls
- Regularly attend practice drills, exercises, lectures and other forms of training
- Familiarisation with risks and potential hazards on fire station grounds
- Test and inspect hydrants
- Clean and test fire station equipment and ensure its readiness for emergency calls
- Carry out any other duties at the direction of the manager

REPORTING ARRANGEMENTS
Once in post at your Fire Station, the operational Firefighter is directly accountable to Crew Manager for the performance of their duties and subsequntly the Watch Manager
WIDER RESPONSIBILITIES
The postholder is expected to contribute to the operation and management of the Service as a whole, examples of which may include:
- Attendance of relevant training courses.
- Membership of appropriate meetings, working parties and project groups (where appropriate)
- Supporting Service activities by developing a network of contacts both within and outside the organisation.
- Promoting a positive image of the Service in dealings with all other organisations and members of the public.
