This new fire station comprises of one appliance bay, control room,
lecture room, equipment store and bathroom with shower.
The call out system by now was with a battery operated pocket alerters which the men carry with them all day. These would have been re-charged at the firemen's houses each night, they would still operate
whilst on charge.
At the end of March 1974 Sub Officer Nicholson retired and Leading Fireman John Ward was promoted to Sub Officer in Charge.
1977 saw a replacement appliance which had previously been based at Preston the Ford Water Tender had been accident damaged.
