2005
2005 is a special year for FF John Taylor. In June 2005 John received his long service and good conduct medal, this represents 20 years service with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. 2005 saw little changes at S58 Tarleton with the exception of a new appliance bay door which operates on a traffic light system an is fully electrically operated.
With in the service there has been a significant re structure changing from ranks to roll, this has been a national re structure.
In 2005 a working party was set up to potentially introduce a salary scheme to all personnel working the retained duty system. WM Tom Cookson from S58 was part of the group. After many meetings and negations with the service finance director and principle officers of the service a salary scheme trial was rolled out to 6 stations for 6 months.
2006
February 2006 saw the introduction of the new salary scheme to all Retained Duty System staff. see details here

In March WM Cookson Transferred to Wholetime to the new Urban Search and Rescue Team as Watch Manager of Blue Watch based in central Lancashire.As a temporary measure Tarleton Fire Station was used as a base for the new team. The team of 15 used Tarleton fire station as a base for over six months till a more suitable location was located. More details can be found here
In August work began at S58 Tarleton to build a new extension on the rear of the station. This will give the station a new office and store room, the station was also refurbished.
FF John Hardman also Joined the WT service to become part of the urban search and rescue team however has continued with retained duty system.
2007
In 2007 Service Delivery Manager Dave Johnstone Retired, The Service Delivery Manager For Tarleton was SM Mark Wissett. Wm Cookson lead a project in at the end of 2007 to evaluate electronic recording rota for firefighters working the retained duty system. 2 new recruits joined Tarleton during 2007 namely Andrew Cupit, Andrew is no stranger to Tarleton after joining the service over 25 years ago at Tarleton. He left many years after to join wholetime. Andrew has now re-joined at Tarleton. Rob Bradley also completed initial recruits course and commenced Phase 2 development.
2008
Another special year WM Tom Cookson received his 20 year good service and conduct medal, This was attached to another medal awarded to Emergency service and armed forces operational staff who have completed 5 years service or more on 6 February 2002 (Golden Jubilee year.)
2008 saw the introduction of the new electronic recording system. Firefighters can now monitor and update their availability from station or home computers, the system allow text bookings to be made.
2 new recruits joined Tarleton Namely Mark Greenwood, Mark joined the service at Tarleton in 1989 however left to join Wholetime some years later. Mark now being a WM at Chorley has re joined Tarleton. John Cookson completed his recruits course in August and commenced Phase 2 development. FF Matt Pendlebury who has been at Tarleton for some 6 years has been successful in joining Wholetime within Lancashire he starts March 2009 however will continue to Retained Duty System at Tarleton. FF Graham Jamieson also Joined the WT service to become part of the urban search and rescue team however has continued with retained duty system.
2009
In 2009 the areas were realigned to districts. SDM Mark Wissett has now moved to Chorley and Leyland. SDM Steve Wilson is now SDM of Tarleton Skelmersdale and Ormskirk.
