Tarleton Fire Station situated in West Lancashire, it houses 1 pump ladder rescue and it is currently crewed by 18 firefighters working the retained duty system.


Fire StationTarleton Fire Station is crewed by personnel who's 
full time jobs vary from whole time firefighters Urban search and rescue technicians, managing director, truck drivers, mechanics, window cleaner, valeter and Joiner. These dedicated personnel bring a whole range of skills and life experience to Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service.

Tarleton Fire Station attends approximately two hundred and fourty Incidents every year. The fire appliance at Tarleton has been available 100% of the time since Lancashire County Fire Brigade to control of the station in 1948 upgrading it to retained status.

 


The role of the fire service has changed over recent years, with firefighters now working to reduce the number of fires and deaths and injuries caused by fire through a range of Community Fire safety initiatives.

Firefighters working the retained duty system play an important role in their community, by helping to promote Fire safety messages at local galas, fetes and by giving fire safety advice to schools. The firefighters at Traleton have been trained to go out to peoples home and carryout home fire safety checks.

Tarleton is a parish in the district of West Lancashire and is located 10 miles north of Ormskirk, 10 miles east of Southport and 10 miles south of Preston

The population of the village has grown enormously over the past 10 years, and at the last census there was approximately 8,200 living within the main village and three hamlets.

There are 8 wholetime 10 wholetime/retained 4 day crewed 17 retained fire stations and 1 urban search and rescue station, which not only protect the people who live and work in Lancashire but those who travel through the county. Last year Lancashire's fire control mobilised appliances and specialist vehicles to 25,000 incidents.

These include fires, of course, road traffic accidents, dealing with hazardous materials and floods, and protecting the community through fire safety work. Retained firefighters are a vital part of today’s Fire and Rescue Service. They provide an efficient, effective service that gives emergency cover to more than 90% of the UK. The 14,000 firefighters who make up the retained fire service in England and Wales are generally located in rural communities, small towns and villages. The Fire and Rescue Service needs people who can respond in an emergency, particularly in rural areas andduring daytime hours.
